Decentralization in Indonesia: Promise & Unfinished Business

UBC Centre for Southeast Asia Research (CSEAR) & ANU Indonesia Project Joint Seminar

Has decentralization delivered on its promise of a more equitable Indonesia? This seminar examines whether income disparities have been reduced across the archipelago, and how districts’ levels of development have influenced the effects of decentralization on inequality. Our featured speaker Dr. Andi Irawan holds PhD in regional planning from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include economic development, spatial analysis, sea transportation and coastal development. He is currently working on a project involving demographic data and maps. Free event and all are welcome.
